AEW Full Gear Predictions: Will Kenny Omega's Reign of Dominance Come to an End?
On Saturday, All Elite Wrestling will hold their third Full Gear pay-per-view in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Coming off the heels of one of the greatest shows in the company’s history, Full Gear has the potential to be up there in terms of match quality and star power. For nearly a year, Kenny Omega has sat atop his throne as AEW World Champion, but he has his biggest challenge yet in his former tag team partner. Could we see championships change hands on Saturday?
The Buy In: Nyla Rose and Jamie Hayter vs. Hikaru Shida and Thunder Rosa
On a card full of tag team matches, this one seems hastily thrown together. None of the four women are feuding with each other, although maybe you can argue for Hayter and Rosa. I’m very happy that these women are fighting on the card, even though Hayter will be coming out for Britt Baker’s match later in the show. I’ll say Shida and Rosa get the win. Either one of them would make a great challenger for Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D, especially Rosa.
Winners: Hikaru Shida and Thunder Rosa via pinfall
The Inner Circle vs. American Top Team - Minneapolis Street Fight
I figured I would start the predictions with what probably will be the most chaotic match of the evening. Ten men will collide, as Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Santana, Ortiz, and the TNT Champion Sammy Guevara will take on Ethan Page, Scorpio Sky, Junior Dos Santos, Andrei Arlovski, and founder Dan Lambert. If I had to take a guess, this may end up being a cinematic match, with falls count anywhere rules. However, since that has not been announced yet, I’ll treat this like a standard Street Fight. The Inner Circle has lost too many times in this feud, so I think they’re owed a victory here. Bonus points if Santana or Ortiz get the pinfall, just to build one of them up in case of a singles run.
Winners: The Inner Circle via pinfall
Six-Man Falls Count Anywhere Match: Christian Cage, Jungle Boy, and Luchasaurus vs. The SuperKliq (Adam Cole and The Young Bucks)
While Kenny Omega and Hangman Page is probably the match that the Elite are more focused on, winning this six man Falls Count Anywhere match could provide the group with some confidence. The second of two multi man matches with stipulations, this has brewed for some time, ever since Adam Cole’s arrival in AEW at All Out. The backstage attacks by the SuperKliq have struck a nerve with Cage and Jurassic Express. Even though Cole and the Young Bucks have had the upper hand in the feud, I got Jurassic Express and Christian Cage winning this. Jungle Boy has suffered too many losses as of late, and he needs to get back on the winning track. He gives Cole his first pinfall loss in the company.
Winners: Jurassic Express and Christian Cage via pinfall
Darby Allin vs. MJF
MJF and Darby Allin are two AEW originals that have become two of the company’s best homegrown stars. On Saturday, they will go head to head following a war of words on the November 3rd episode of Dynamite. MJF has gotten under the skin of not only Allin, but also his mentor, Sting. It’s hard to believe that this match has not already happened in AEW, in all honesty. Both of these men have been riding a wave of momentum, but MJF needs the win more. Even though Allin lost to Punk, he’s already been a champion in AEW, and his spot in the card right now is perfect. MJF, meanwhile, is continuing his upward trajectory. Don’t expect his win to come clean, however.
Winner: MJF via pinfall
Cody and PAC vs. Andrade El Idolo and Malakai Black
I love all four of these men, and they are all so talented in the ring. Also, what a weird team Malakai and Andrade are, as they were feuding in WWE just last year. It seems like two makeshift teams, but this could be one of the best matches of the night. I’ll go with Andrade El Idolo and Malakai Black, which sadly means Cody has to take another pinfall loss.
Winners: Andrade El Idolo and Malakai Black via pinfall
AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament Final: Bryan Danielson vs. Miro
The former Daniel Bryan’s first AEW pay-per-view match comes against another WWE alum, Miro. Both have World Title ambitions, and Miro has stepped in nicely for Jon Moxley, who has taken a leave of absence to focus on his personal life. Danielson has come out on top against Dustin Rhodes and Eddie Kingston, while Miro forced Orange Cassidy to submit to Game Over. I think this match could be one of the longest of the evening, and one of the sleeper hits of the show. After a back and forth battle, Miro comes out on top as Danielson passes out to the camel clutch.
Winner: Miro via TKO
CM Punk vs. Eddie Kingston
As great as MJF is on the mic, he’s not on the level of either CM Punk or Eddie Kingston, two of the best talkers not just in AEW, but in the business today. On the November 5th episode of Rampage, Punk and Kingston went toe to toe in a promo war, and it was easily Punk’s pinnacle on the mic since his return to the industry. Eventually, The Second City Saint will suffer a pinfall loss in AEW. I do not think it will come against Kingston, however. Punk wins with a GTS, and he should embrace Eddie after the match. It will create a feel-good moment for the show.
Winner: CM Punk via pinfall
AEW Women’s World Championship: Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. (c) vs. Tay Conti
Britt Baker’s reign as AEW Champion has been a fun one. She’s conquered every challenger that AEW has thrown in her way, and it’s resulted in many women getting a chance at the company’s top prize. The new #1 contender? The fast rising Tay Conti, who will get her first shot at the title. Baker has been at the top of her game, and there’s no sign it’s slowing down. She ends Conti’s momentum with a Lockjaw.
Prediction: Britt Baker via submission to retain the AEW Women’s World Championship
AEW World Tag Team Championships: The Lucha Brothers (c) vs. FTR
Apart from CM Punk and Eddie Kingston, this is the match I’m most looking forward to come Saturday night. There have been no hotter teams over the past several weeks than the Lucha Brothers and FTR, and they will finally clash with the titles on the line. On the October 16 episode of Dynamite, FTR defeated Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo for the AAA Tag Team Championships. I don’t think they’re going to hold both tag titles at once, so the Lucha Brothers pick up the win. Plus, they have other teams to wrestle for the championships. Also, expect this one to go at least 20 minutes.
Winners: The Lucha Brothers via pinfall to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championships
AEW World Championship: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Hangman Page
AEW has always had a way of telling a great story to its matches. The main event of Full Gear is nearly two years in the making, with Hangman Page finally getting another chance at the AEW Championship. Better yet, his opportunity comes against his former tag team partner, Kenny Omega. It’s clear that Hangman is not a fan of Omega’s new attitude since they split late last year, and the feud has gotten personal over the past number of weeks. I said this in my All Out predictions, and I stand by it: it’s Hangman Page’s belt to lose. The Target Center will come unglued on Saturday, and after an emphatic Buckshot Lariat, Page has his moment in the sun.
Winner: Hangman Page via pinfall to win the AEW World Championship
