Celebrate Jazz in September at Chris’ Jazz Café
Kurt Rosenwinkel All Star Quartet Headlines the Anniversary Weekend in September, Celebrating 33 Years of Jazz.
Chris’ Jazz Café is gearing up for another fantastic fall season as the iconic club marks its 33rd anniversary this September.
Philadelphia area native Kurt Rosenwinkel will kick off the season as he joins the legendary venue on-stage to celebrate their milestone-anniversary on Friday and Saturday, September 16 & 17. The international jazz guitarist will be joined by Aaron Parks (piano), Eric Revis (bass), and Gregory Hutchinson (drums).
“We’ve been through so much the last couple years, and through it all, we’re happy to report that we’ve survived! It’s extremely gratifying to be able to celebrate another year of live jazz in Philly and I hope Delaware Valley residents continue to come out to support us,“ said Chef/Owner Mark DeNinno in a press release.
Rosenwinkel, who is a Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts alum, has been a distinct and prominent creative voice at the forefront of modern music for nearly three decades. The multi-talented artist is knowledgable with a variety of musical instruments, as well as being a composer and producer. As such, he has gained international recognition for his artistry and unabated individualism since first appearing on the New York music scene in 1991.
Kurt’s legacy as the pre-eminent jazz guitarist of his generation is evident on his 11 albums as a leader. With each album offering inspiration for legions of musicians across the globe. Some of Kurt’s more prominent accomplishments within the main-stream music world includes collaborations with Eric Clapton, Q-tip, Gary Burton, Paul Motian, Joe Henderson, Brad Mehldau, and Donald Fagen. These are only a few examples of artists Kurt has worked with, culminating in a remarkably diverse and extensive catalog of music with over 150 sideman recordings.
