Chef Alexandra Holt's New BYOB
Alexandra Holt’s Roxanne BYOB Opened at 912 Christian Street on September 19th.
Philadelphia, PA—Philadelphia’s restaurant scene is one of the hottest trends happening in our area, and new to the scene is Alexandra Holt’s Roxanne BYOB.
Located at 912 Christian Street, the new BYOB opened its doors on September 19th, and will offer an evolving menu based on Holt’s weekly culinary aspirations and creativity.
“I’m going to make whatever I feel like making every week,” said Holt in a press release. “There is no specific focus or cuisine, and the menu will change regularly. Dinner will feature a tasting menu which will likely be eight courses, and I plan on making the menu very approachable and affordable.”
While there is no set menu Holt will begin with five small bites, one of them being a togarashi cannelé with pimento cheese. For fall’s menu, Chef Holt’s creative menu will feature beef tongue with grilled cabbage as well as a raclette ice cream cake with caviar.
The first to taste what Roxanne BYOB has to offer were in attendance for the opening of Holt’s new restaurant. For example, the evening’s event featured a vanilla bean croissant that was grilled over charcoal and a Portuguese egg tart filling and lacto-fermented stone fruit. Of course she had wanted to include one of her favorite foods, so she offered five separate potato courses, plated utilizing a multitude of culinary techniques.
Chef Holt learned those techniques as a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in 2013, in addition to having trained at Michelin Star restaurants in Stuttgart, Germany, Iceland, and other European countries. On top of her impressive resume in European countries, Holt also spent time inside kitchens located in Chicago, Philadelphia, and beyond.
Although the restaurant will have no phone, and reservations will be available on Tock, Roxanne BYOB will be open for dinner Monday to Wednesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. The days of operation will change over time once the restaurant opens, however you will need to make reservations in order to be seated.
While last seating will be around 8:30 p.m., Holt said she may stay open late on various nights for guests. As for the pastry program, Chef Holt will offer them on rotating weekdays, with the hours running from noon until the availability of pastries sell out.
With no set schedule, customers can keep an eye on Instagram for when Roxanne is open during the daytime. You can follow Holt and the business on Instagram at @Roxanne_Philly and on her personal page.
