Again, Parx Casino is putting on a great card with the help of Bam Boxing and Joe Hand Promotions.
Returning and headlining on Thursday, September 1st is Joey Dawejko, who is looking to start a climb back up the rankings and a return to winning ways with a hometown victory. He’ll be taking on Mike Marshall at the top on the card in the eight-round main event. Dawejko sees an open field in the heavyweight division and is motivated to make a run at big fights and big money. With the backing of legendary advisor, Russell Peltz and training at Team Chaos Boxing Gym this fight is a great start if he can put together an impressive performance.
The co-main event pits Daiyaan Butt, another Philadelphia-based fighter, against Tyrone Luckey in a six-round contest. Butt is an up-and-coming prospect who has great reach and size at lightweight. Luckey will be the most experienced opponent he has faced to date.
A fight to look forward to in the mid-card will feature the Brisco Award Winner Christopher Burgos, who will take on Nelson Morales in a six-round fight. Burgos always comes to fight and often leaves with at least a split decision. Morales is looking to get back on track coming off the first loss of his career.
Bryce Mills is an exciting name on the card as well. He’s coming off of an upset win over Daiyaan Butt that raised some local boxing eyebrows and he’s back to take on Carlos Marrero, in an effort to keep building on his career in a four-round contest.
Brendan O’Callaghan and Soslan Alborov are both coming off a loss at the very beginning of their boxing careers. In their four-round bout, they’ll both look to do anything to avoid another loss.
We’ll keep things local for a super middleweight four-rounder. Derrick Vann is looking to roll one win into another as he looks to build on a victory a few weeks ago at Boardwalk Hall. Everlon Still has had a much longer layoff, since November, but is coming off a knockout win. One of these fighters is going to start a streak.
We’ve also got a few pro debuts on the card as well. One of the best parts of seeing local cards at smaller venues is getting to see these unique sporting moments in the lives of young fighters. Andre Hinmon will look to even his record as he welcomes Tyler Zwicharowski to the professional ranks with a four-round middleweight contest, and Devin Gantt will begin his conquest at super featherweight across the ring from the debuting Taijro Arakawa in a fight scheduled for four rounds.
The action kicks off at 7 pm and tickets are still available. They can be found at the Parx Casino website, or by calling Joe Hand Promotions at (215) 364-9000.
