Flyers Bring Back Some Depth
Here's two guys who will continue to be in the orange and black
The Flyers have made their first offseason moves. Even though it is a critical off season and all eyes are on free agency and the NHL draft, where the Flyers hold the 5th overall pick, you’ve still got a lot of in house moves to take care of.
Chuck Fletcher’s first moves was resigning depth defender Nick Seeler and depth forward Linus Sandin.
Seeler played 43 games this season for the Flyers, putting up 1 goal and 2 assists, and popping in 29 penalty minutes. He provided some toughness when he was called upon, and is useful to have as a 7th defender. He’ll be back two-year, one-way/two-way, contract with an (AAV) of $775K. It is a small safe contract which keeps a good guy in the organization.
Sandin only managed to get into one Flyers game last season but could figure to get into more now that he’s back in the fold. In 36 games for the Phantoms, Sandin put up 20 points (8 goals, 12 assists) and proved that his can adjust to North America. A solid forechecker with a good net front presence, at 6’1'“ and 210 pounds, he’s got the size and ability to jump into a bottom 6 roles for the Flyers.
The first of many moves to come this summer, but two easy ones for GM Chuck Fletcher.
