Joe Hand Promotions Lines Up Next Fight Night
Joey Dawejko returns to continue his climb up the rankings
After a fantastic card in September, Joe Hand Promotions and Bam Boxing are turning right around and making the same thing happen in October.
Returning to Parx Casino, the team will also enlist the matchmaking of the returning talents of Nick Tiberi in an effort to showcase local talent and the next generation of up-and-coming fighters. We’re seeing some fan favorites on quick turnarounds on the top of the card, and some of the newer fighters in the area looking to break out and start building their names.
Headlining his 2nd consecutive Xcite Fight Night is Joey Dawejko (22-10-4 13 KOs) will take on the well-traveled and experienced heavyweight Terrell Jamal Woods (28-53-9 20 KOs) in an effort to continue his climb back into significant heavyweight fights. The wide-open division has fights to make if Dawejko can continue to impress. He’s coming off of a knockout of Mike Marshall last month, as his partnership with Philly boxing legend Russell Peltz continues.
In the co-main event, super lightweight Daiyaan Butt (11-2-0 5 KOs) returns after starring on the last Xcite Fight Night card and has his sights set on locking with Juan de la Cruz Rodriguez (10-16-1 7 KOs). Butt continues to build his own career and has taken on opponents with at least double his fights in his last two bouts. What he’s sacrificing in pro experience he will make up for in skill and athleticism. However, de la Cruz will be eager to give him a fight and halt his upward momentum.
One fight that should produce a compelling matchup is Kevin Ford (4-0-0 4 KOs) and his stoppage streak that will go up against D’Angelo Fuentes (7-1-0 4 KOs). Fuentes was impressive to start his career, but now has the tall task of rebounding from a loss against an undefeated opponent. The fight is expected to be contested at the featherweight limit.
In another super lightweight contest Boris Nde (2-1-0 ) pops into the ring for the 3rd time this year and for the first time outside of the central PA area. Hakim Smith (1-3-1) of Philadelphia, PA will be on hand to welcome him, and hopefully stop his own skid.
Soslan Alborov is coming off of an unusually thrilling draw but is going to face a new challenge in welcoming a fighter to the professional ranks. Saifeddine Mezzi, a Philadelphian by way of Tunisia, will look to score an opening victory against the unorthodox Alborov in the super lightweight fight.
Also on the card is Brendan O’Callaghan (2-1-1 1 KO) who drew with Alborov on the previous card. The former Marine brings a nice following and a ton of heart. Making his debut will be Quan Humbert, a southpaw entering the welterweight division. Both fighters are still currently waiting for an official opponent.
There are still tickets available for this fight night. The Xcite Center at Parx Casino is an intimate venue that combines the closeness of club fights with the comfort and amenities of a casino. You can grab tickets here or try to find them from your ticket providers.
