Wrestlemania 38 Predictions: Who Wins the Biggest Main Event in Wrestlemania History?
WWE's Marquee Show Heads to Jerryworld
The Showcase of the Immortals. The Grandaddy of Them All. The Most Stupendous Two-Night Event in History. Many terms can apply to WWE’s big event next week, but one word stands above them all:
Wrestlemania.
That’s right, the 38th annual spectacle will hail from Dallas, Texas. Much like the last two years, Wrestlemania will be two nights. Celebrities fill the card, but the main event of a Winner Take All match between WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and Universal Champion Roman Reigns feels like a bout worthy of the spot. However, there are still almost a dozen other matches that will make up this year’s show. Who do I have coming out on top at WWE’s biggest show of the year?
Night 1
Drew McIntyre vs. Happy Corbin (with Madcap Moss)
Corbin has been pushing his luck with Drew McIntyre for the past number of weeks now. At Day One, Corbin and Moss took out The Scottish Warrior backstage, angering the former WWE Champion. On recent episodes of Smackdown, the Happy One has been evading Drew at every turn, but at Wrestlemania, the two will finally collide. I see McIntyre picking up the win, ending Corbin’s undefeated streak. With that said, however, a Corbin roll-up is also a potential outcome.
Prediction: Drew McIntyre via pinfall
The New Day vs. Sheamus and Ridge Holland
I’m not a fan of this storyline, or the fact that Ridge Holland is getting a match at Wrestlemania after the freak incident with Big E. This feud has been 50/50 booking at its finest, with New Day and Sheamus’ boys picking up wins every other week on Smackdown. Since King Woods and Kofi Kingston are back as a unit, and Woods is in the midst of a mini push, give me the New Day coming out on top.
Prediction: The New Day via pinfall
Rey and Dominik Mysterio vs. The Miz and Logan Paul
Out of all of the celebrity matches at this year’s Wrestlemania, this one feels the most out of place. Sure, it’s cliché at this point to hate the Paul siblings, and putting him with The Miz is one way to get the fans to boo him. Despite this, Paul seems to be enjoying himself, connecting with the fans and showing respect to Rey Mysterio. On RAW, Miz stole Rey’s mask, causing even more blood to boil. As for who comes out on top, I’ll take Miz and Logan. Give Paul his Wrestlemania moment while furthering the tension between the Mysterio family.
Prediction: The Miz and Logan Paul via pinfall
WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship: The Usos (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs
The first title match on the card, Roman Reigns’ henchmen put their belts on the line against two surprising challengers. A few weeks ago, Shinsuke Nakamura was the Intercontinental Champion, and Rick Boogs was his guitar player. With a lack of tag teams on Smackdown’s roster, this feels like the only match that’s possible. There’s no reason to take the titles off of the Usos. The duo has been steamrolling throughout the WWE, and it’s going to take a massive challenge to unseat them.
Prediction: The Usos via pinfall to retain the Smackdown Tag Team Championships
WWE RAW Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Bianca Belair
At Elimination Chamber last month, Bianca Belair stood tall, in which she earned a Wrestlemania match with the woman who took the belt from her last August. The story writes itself, and Belair is on the road to redemption. She might go into the bout injured, though. Becky Lynch took out Bianca with a chair to the throat several weeks ago on RAW. On one hand, Wrestlemania is filled with great stories, and Belair finally getting her title back would be a perfect one. However, this is Big Time Becks, who’s had classic after classic match. I’ve been torn about this for several weeks, but Bianca finally defeats Becky to win the championship.
Prediction: Bianca Belair via pinfall to win the RAW Women’s Championship
Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs. TBD (Presumably Cody Rhodes)
Now I want to make something clear before writing this bit: I’m not positive that it will be Cody Rhodes as Rollins’ opponent, but every rumor circulating the Internet is suggesting that the American Nightmare will make his long awaited return to WWE. Almost unthinkable months ago, the former EVP of AEW has been one of the hottest free agents in wrestling. Nevertheless, if it is Rhodes, he has to pick up a win. It would easily be one of the biggest pops of the past 15 years. A Cross-Rhodes on Rollins would give the victory to Cody.
Prediction: Cody Rhodes via pinfall
WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship: Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Ronda Rousey
I don’t care what some are saying online, I’m really excited about the match between Charlotte and Ronda. If there’s anybody that would give a great match to Ronda for her return to WWE, Charlotte’s the safest bet. A sleeper for the match of the night for Wrestlemania Saturday, the feud between the two has escalated in recent weeks, even going backstage and in the parking lot area. It seems like Rousey is the obvious pick here, but I see Charlotte actually keeping the title. There are more women on the Smackdown roster for Charlotte to feud with, and someone like Sasha Banks or Naomi taking the belt would make for a better ending to her lengthy reign.
Prediction: Charlotte Flair via pinfall to retain the Smackdown Women’s Championship
The KO Show with Stone Cold Steve Austin
Since all the rumors suggest that this will close out Night One, I figured I’d close out Night One with this segment. It’s obvious that this will not be a traditional talk show, and that the two will get physical at some point. Whether or not a match will take place remains to be seen, but I could see one of those “unsanctioned” matches that WWE likes to pull every once in a while. Either way, you know what’s going to happen. Owens will be on the receiving end of a Stone Cold Stunner, and Austin will celebrate with several cans of beer to close out Night One.
Prediction: No formal match, but an unsanctioned fight with Stone Cold Steve Austin coming out on top
Night 2
Fatal Four Way Match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Carmella and Queen Zelina (c) vs. Sasha Banks and Naomi vs. Natalya and Shayna Baszler vs. Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley
I mean, I guess kudos to WWE for trying to make the Women’s Tag Team Championships relevant. Adding Sasha Banks, Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley, and Naomi to the match definitely helps, so I think that one of those pairs comes out with the titles. Coin flip for me, but I’ll say Sasha and Naomi win it. Either that happens or Bayley makes her return to cost The Boss a win. I could absolutely see that happening as well.
Prediction: Sasha Banks and Naomi via pinfall to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships
Omos vs. Bobby Lashley
Announced on Monday’s RAW, two of WWE’s biggest giants will collide this Sunday at Wrestlemania. There’s only one man in WWE that can make Bobby Lashley look small, and Omos is that man. Lashley returned on Monday to a thunderous ovation, knocking AJ Styles’ former bodyguard off his feet. An Omos win can go a long way towards his push, especially if he beats a former WWE Champion. It won’t be as dominating of a win, but Omos picks up a W.
Prediction: Omos via pinfall
Pat McAfee vs. Austin Theory
There are two celebrity matches scheduled for Wrestlemania Sunday, and I’ll start with the one that I’m less excited about. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with Pat McAfee vs. Austin Theory, but the buildup has been rather weak, apart from McAfee’s promos. Originally a spot rumored for Vince McMahon, Austin Theory challenged the former Pro Bowl punter to a Mania match. I can’t see McAfee losing this match, and to be honest, I think this match could be a sleeper. Theory’s a great wrestler, and Pat has held his own against Adam Cole of all people. This should end with McAfee on top.
Prediction: Pat McAfee via pinfall
Anything Goes Match: Johnny Knoxville vs. Sami Zayn
I’m not sure exactly why, but I’m very much looking forward to the bout between Knoxville and Zayn. Maybe it’s because this has been brewing since the start of 2022. Maybe it’s because I’m a fan of the Jackass movies, or maybe it’s a bit of both. I’m fairly confident several things will happen: Johnny Knoxville will attempt a risky spot and Sami Zayn gets the win. Out of all the celebrity matches, Knoxville is the only one I think takes a loss. Sami needs a win too, especially since he lost his Intercontinental Championship to Ricochet not too long ago.
Prediction: Sami Zayn via pinfall
Triple Threat Match for the WWE RAW Tag Team Championships: R-K-Bro (c) vs. The Street Profits vs. Alpha Academy
In a turn of events, the RAW Tag Team Championship picture has been knocking it out of the park lately. All three teams have had their strengths, and the Alpha Academy has won me over the past several months. I’m cool with either of the three teams winning, but the one thing I don’t want to see is an R-K-Bro split. The two have been fantastic since last summer, so WWE shouldn’t break up another tag team. I’d also be happy putting the belts back on the Alpha Academy. Keep their entertaining momentum going.
Prediction: Alpha Academy via pinfall to win the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship
Edge vs. AJ Styles
It’s no secret that this is a dream match that WWE fans have wanted for years. To WWE’s credit, they have played this storyline to near perfection. Turning Edge heel was a brilliant move, and he continues to remind the WWE Universe how good he is in that role. Styles is back in a babyface role, where he excels. This should, without question, be the match of the night for Wrestlemania Sunday. When it comes to the more intriguing storyline, Edge would have to be the pick here. I could see Styles getting the win, especially if he became a challenger for the Unified WWE Championship. This is a coin flip for who wins, but I’ll ride with the WWE Hall of Famer.
Prediction: Edge via pinfall
Winner Take All Match for the WWE and Universal Championships: Brock Lesnar (WWE Champion) vs. Roman Reigns (Universal Champion)
WWE has promoted this match as the biggest Wrestlemania match in history, and from a storyline standpoint, it’s hard to argue that point. Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns are set to put the finishing touches on their trilogy of matches in the main event of Wrestlemania 38. Combine that with the fact that WWE will be unifying the two World Championships, and you have one hell of a main event for Wrestlemania. Lesnar has been rock solid as a babyface, and his actions in recent weeks have gotten under the skin of the Tribal Chief. Meanwhile, Roman Reigns is a master on the mic, captivating the WWE Universe as well as the Mayor of Suplex City. Reigns has never beaten Lesnar at Wrestlemania, but on Sunday, that changes. The Tribal Chief picks up a dominant win, as a Guillotine passes out the WWE Champion.
Prediction: Roman Reigns via knockout to win the WWE Championship and retain the Universal Championship
Enjoy Wrestlemania this weekend, everybody. The two biggest nights of the wrestling year are just ahead, and it will surely be stupendous!
