WWE Money in the Bank Predictions: Who Retrieves the Briefcases This Year?
Plus Four Marquee Title Matches This Saturday
I can confidently say that Money in the Bank has ascended into the second tier of WWE Premium Live Events, on par with Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble. MITB gives WWE the opportunity to make a new star or create a new storyline with the Money in the Bank Ladder Matches. Although the show was originally set to take place at Allegiant Stadium, it will now run at MSG Grand Garden Arena, around the same time as UFC 276 at nearby T-Mobile Arena. Who wins the briefcases? Plus, will any champion lose their belt? Here are my picks for WWE Money in the Bank 2022.
WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championships - The Usos (c) vs. The Street Profits
I like both teams a lot. As of this writing, I’ll go ahead and say that they are my favorite teams in WWE right now. The Profits picked up some massive wins over Jimmy and Jey, both in singles and tag team action, but they did not pin them with the titles on the line. I think that streak will continue on Saturday. The Usos are on a major roll right now, and as long as they stick by the side of Roman Reigns, I don’t see those titles going anywhere. However, a bigger question should be brought up: who can take the belts off the Usos?
Prediction: The Usos via pinfall to retain the Undisputed Tag Team Championships
WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Natalya
Both women’s title matches seem…random. Natalya is one of the hardest workers in WWE, but she simply is not on the level of Ronda Rousey. The buildup for this has been lackluster on-screen, but the social media back-and-forth between the two has been stellar. The result should be quick and easy. The Baddest Woman on the Planet keeps her championship after forcing Nattie to submit.
Prediction: Ronda Rousey vía submission to retain the Smackdown Women’s Championship
WWE RAW Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Carmella
I don’t understand how Carmella can be away from action for nearly two months yet jumps over Liv Morgan, Alexa Bliss, and Zelina Vega in line. She won a five-pack challenge for the right to face Belair on Saturday, but the EST of WWE is not taking her seriously. The fans are in agreement. No way Carmella leaves with the championship, Bianca gets the win after a KOD.
Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Alexa Bliss vs. Liv Morgan vs. Lacey Evans vs. Shotzi vs. Raquel Rodriguez vs. Becky Lynch.
This might be just me, but I think the field for the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match is pretty damn good. A nice mix of veterans and newcomers make up the six women who have a shot at destiny. While narrowing the field down, I could see four of the six winning, but my pick for winner came down to Morgan or Rodriguez. Both have been seen as credible threats to their respective championships at one point or another, but ultimately, I have this gut feeling that Morgan walks away with the briefcase. She can hold onto it for however long she needs to. I just hope that it does not get cashed in within a week like most of the contract holders do.
Prediction: Liv Morgan becomes Ms. Money in the Bank
WWE United States Championship: Theory (c) vs. Bobby Lashley
I’m all in on Bobby Lashley being one of the faces of WWE with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton on the shelf. Having Theory go up against him pushes him to the next level. However, I’m 50/50 on who leaves with the United States Championship. Theory is having a solid run with the belt, but he’s rumored to have a clash with John Cena at Summerslam. Lashley does not need the US Championship, but a win at a Premium Live Event would never hurt. I’ll go with Theory winning. If Theory vs. Cena does happen, he cannot afford to go into Summerslam with a loss. It’ll be a dusty finish, but Theory somehow pulls it off.
Prediction: Theory via pinfall to retain the United States Championship
Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Riddle vs. Sheamus vs. Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs. Omos vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn vs. TBA
There’s a solid argument for any of the men in this match to win the briefcase. At one point or another, all of these men, minus Omos, have interacted with Roman Reigns. Similar to the women’s match, I narrowed my list of winners down. I’m fairly confident that one of Rollins, Riddle, or Zayn wins, and each makes sense. Rollins seems to get the best of Reigns, Riddle can’t challenge for the championship while the Tribal Chief is champion, and Zayn could win the briefcase to protect the Head of the Table. I wrote several weeks ago about people who could unseat Reigns, and I had Zayn as an option via Money in the Bank. I’m going to stick with it. The Honorary Bloodline member takes home a guaranteed World Title match in a thriller, kicking off a long-term storyline.
Prediction: Sami Zayn becomes Mr. Money in the Bank.
