WWE Royal Rumble 2022 Predictions: Who's Going to the Main Event of Wrestlemania?
And Johnny Knoxville will be there too!
The Royal Rumble is always one of WWE’s most anticipated shows of the year. The countdown hits and you never know who will come out from behind the curtain. There is no show in WWE with the adrenaline rush of the Royal Rumble. However, only man and woman can win the namesake match, make history, and punch their ticket to Wrestlemania. The Rumble field is relatively wide open, which is a rarity in this day and age. Who do I think is winning the dream matches at the Royal Rumble?
Edge and Beth Phoenix vs. The Miz and Maryse
This match has been rumored for quite a while, and I figured it was only a matter of time before this took place. Edge won a grueling match at Day One, and I truly believe that the Hall of Fame power couple will come out on top. I know that the Miz is due for a victory sometime soon, and I truly believe he will get it sometime soon. With that said, Edge is going to have a marquee match at The Show of Shows. He needs all the momentum right now.
Prediction: Edge and Beth Phoenix via pinfall
WWE Raw Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Doudrop
I’m really glad to see Becky Lynch take on new opponents for her Women’s Championship. Her feud with Liv Morgan was excellent and it was among the best work of Morgan’s career. Next up? Doudrop, who is coming off a rivalry with Bianca Belair. In those matches, Belair picked up the victory in each. Based off that alone, I can’t see Doudrop winning. Lynch keeps her title.
Prediction: Becky Lynch via submission to retain the RAW Women’s Championship
WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth “Freakin” Rollins
Only once has The Tribal Chief taken on The Visionary at a Premium Live Event. That happened at Money in the Bank 2016, where Rollins was victorious. On Saturday, they will meet again. This feels like a bout that was long overdue, and Rollins is doing something I’ve never seen before. He’s a heel on RAW and a face on SmackDown. This should go at least 15 minutes, but the Head of the Table keeps his title until at least Wrestlemania 38.
Prediction: Roman Reigns via pinfall to retain the Universal Championship
WWE Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Bobby Lashley
If Rollins and Reigns is a dream match, Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley is the match that WWE fans have asked for nearly a decade. Two of the most dominant Superstars of their generation will collide at the Royal Rumble. I know I wanted this match at Wrestlemania, but I will gladly take it two months ahead of schedule. The best part? You could argue for either man coming out on top. No one has escaped Lashley’s Hurt Lock, while the F5 is one of the most protected finishers in WWE history. As for who I think takes it, The All Mighty gets his title back. WWE can give Lashley a career defining victory over The Beast, while Lesnar can face Roman Reigns in the final match of their Wrestlemania trilogy
Prediction: Bobby Lashley via knockout to win the WWE Championship
30 Woman Royal Rumble Match
It’s hard to believe that this is the fifth Woman’s Royal Rumble Match already. It feels like just yesterday that the groundbreaking announcement from Stephanie McMahon that the women of WWE would get their own Royal Rumble. With Charlotte Flair entering the Rumble as Smackdown Women’s Champion, there’s always the chance that she walks away with her second victory. I don’t think this happens, as there is a golden opportunity to crown a new star. Several former Women’s Champions are making their returns, such as Lita and Mickie James. The script is setting up perfectly, though, for someone to win and challenge Big Time Becks for her RAW Women’s Championship.
Most Eliminations: Rhea Ripley with 6
Longest Time in the Match: Liv Morgan
Shortest Time in the Match: Summer Rae
One Surprise Return I’d Like to See: Ronda Rousey
Winner: Liv Morgan
30 Man Royal Rumble Match
There’s something about this year’s Royal Rumble that just feels different. There’s not as much star power as there has been in prior years, but that doesn’t make the match any less special. Even though the field is a tad weaker, the chance to main event Wrestlemania is every Superstar’s dream. Could the winner come from an unannounced entrant? Is this finally Big E or AJ Styles’ year to shine? As the field begins to come together, favorites are beginning to show. I believe that one man will overcome it all and try to win back his championship that he never lost.
Most Eliminations: Damian Priest with 8
Longest Time in the Match: Austin Theory
Shortest Time in the Match: Sami Zayn
One Surprise Return I’d Like to See: Mr. Kennedy
Winner: Big E
